With reference to the Notification No - 19/2021 issued by CBDT (Ministry of Finance) dated 26/03/2021, all donations/contributions made to Sec 80G Account requires mandatory disclosures of the following documents:

Unique identification number of the donor: One of the following shall be filled mandatorily along with the name of such ID:


a. If PAN or Aadhaar number is available, one of that should be mandatorily filled

b. If neither PAN nor Aadhaar is available, one of the following should be mandatorily filled:


(i)Type of Identification Code Taxpayer Identification Number of the country where the person resides; or

(ii)Passport number; or

(iii)Elector's photo identity number; or

(iv)Driving License number; or

(v)Ration card number.

Donation Type: One of the following shall be mandatorily given along with the detailed description of the purpose of donation:

1.Corpus

2.Specific

3.Others

Mode of Receipt: One of the following shall be mandatorily given:

1.Cash

2.Kind

3.Electronic modes including account payee cheque/draft

4.Others (Kindly Specify)

Note: As per the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Income Tax Rules, 1962, all donations u/s 80G will be

Attention

Contributions are exempted from income tax in India under section 80G . The receipts will be issued to the contributors from IRAA office.

All taxpayers, whether resident or non- resident, who have donated money subject to the condition laid down by Section 80G and fulfilment of other criteria of IT Act, 1961 can claim deduction for donation to IIT-ISM Dhanbad Alumni fund.

Q.Who can claim a deduction u/s 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961

Yes, as per the current proviso u/s 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961, An university or educational institution of National eminence or important approved by the Tax Authorities are falls under this.

Q. Is the entire amount is deductible u/s 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961?

No, The entire amount irrespective of whatever the donor has / shall be paid in Bank Account of IIT- ISM Dhanbad Alumni fund ( through Non- cash mode only such as NEFT/ RTGS/ A/c payee cheque, Wire transfer, UPI, etc) , 100% of the donation shall be deductible from your Gross Total Income as per the current tax scenario ( depending upon the Residential status, Type of Assesses, Taxable slab and rate thereupon, etc of the donors)

Q. Is there any qualifying limit with regard to donation amount as stated in Income Tax Act, 1961?

Yes, This payment apps are supporting UPI transfer, you can transfer the fund through this apps.

Further, we are working with the payment partners to accept the donation through their wallats.

Q. Can I pay the Donation through payment Apps such as PayTM, PhonePe, etc?

No, The IIT- ISM Alumni fund only accept the donation through Non- cash mode only.

Q. Can I donate the amount in Cash, If I don’t have any bank account or carry plastic cards ?

Yes, this benefits claiming a deduction u/s 80G is applicable to all subject to the donor must hold a valid Indian PAN card.

The donor must kept in mind the following points before donating us-

    Which donation is not eligible for donation u/s 80G .

  • i. Donation should be paid from Taxable or Exempt income only.
    Donation made through Non- Taxable income sources do not qualify for deduction for e,g., Income of spouse diverted to the donors, Income received by the Karta of Hindu Undivided Family, Compensation or claim received in respect to any Endowment fund or Insurance policy covered under section 10 of Income Tax Act, 1961, etc.
  • ii. Donation made in the form of kinds or materials are not eligible under section 80G.
  • iii. Donors or Assesses who have opted/ will exercise the option of NEW TAX REGIME will not eligible.
  • iv. Deduction under Section 80G cannot exceed your taxable income.

Documents Required to Claim Deduction under Section 80G

  • i. Donors must provide his/ her name, address, PAN, date, amount in figures as well as in words.
  • ii. He should ensure the receipt must contained the Name, address, date, Receipt number, PAN and 80G/ Tax Authority Identification number in his receipt.

Q. I am a Non- resident or PIO/ NRI and made donation to IIT- ISM Dhanbad Alumni Fund. Can I claim a deduction u/s 80G ?
