An Alumni meet of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Punarmilan (Reunion) 2022, was organized on 05 November 2022 in Bengaluru. This event also marked the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the graduation of the 2002 batch. The event was hosted by Prof. Rajni Singh, who started with a glimpse of the meet. Firstly, a warm and cordial welcome was presented to all the dignitaries of the event by Prof. Ram Madhav Bhattacharjee, Dean (International Relations and Alumni Affairs). Prof. Prem Vrat, Chairman, Board of Governor (BoG), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, addressed the audience and mentioned about the ‘Sangam’ of IIT and ISM. A small video was then presented describing the memories of the institute.
Furthermore, Prof. Rajiv Shekhar, Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, also addressed the audience, mentioning recent developments in the institute, academics and sports culture. He talked about Naresh Vashisht Centre for Tinkering and Innovation (NVCTI), funded by Alumni Mr. Naresh Vashisht, which has launched academic minors in product development in various areas.
Then, Mr. Ashok Kamath briefed about the IIT alumni system in Bangalore. This was followed by Prof. Rajeev Upadhyay, Associate Dean (Alumni Affairs), enlightening the gathering about the contributions of alumni in the form of various scholarships, smart classrooms and much more. A video titled ‘A Letter of IIT (ISM) to Alumnus’ was played. Thereafter, Prof. Prem Vrat honored Mr. K. Srinivasan, who then shared his memories of college. In addition, Mr. Viresh Kumar, Mr. Vinay Gupta, Mr. Mayank Shekhar, Mr. Pradeep Kumar and Mr. Ashwini Sharma were honored by Prof. Rajiv Shekhar and Prof. Prem Vrat. A Start-Up named ‘Floryo’ was also launched by Mr. Manohar Kumar. Following this, Mr. David Pichamuthu apprised the Alumni Association Bangalore Chapter. This was followed by a stand-up comedy performance by Mr. Harshit Mahawar.
The event finally concluded with Prof. Rajni Singh thanking everyone for making the event a success, followed by group photographs of different batches.
